The **Chat** tab has two sections: **Active** and **Archived**.

## Archiving

Archiving tidies a finished conversation out of your Active list.

1. In the Chat tab, open the options on a conversation (long-press or the options
   button).
2. Choose **Archive**.

Note: archiving moves the conversation to **Archived for both people**, and
messaging is paused until someone unarchives it.

## Unarchiving

Open the **Archived** tab, open the conversation, and choose **Unarchive**.
Messaging is re-enabled for both people.

## Deleting

Members can't permanently delete a conversation — only an instructor can. If you
want a conversation removed entirely, ask the instructor, or archive it and/or
block the person.

## Empty states

If you have no conversations yet, the Chat tab suggests messaging a teacher from
their profile or an exercise page.
